Order Of The Sun might be looking at an impossible task in the Group 1 $500,000 Chipping Norton Stakes (1600m) at Warwick Farm today, but trainer Gai Waterhouse believes the three year old will develop in a top line staying colt in the future.

Waterhouse has pitted Under The Sun up against one of the best gallopers competing in the Sydney Autumn Carnival in It’s A Dundeel but the top Randwick trainer is hoping that her colt can emulate the deeds of the multiple Group 1 winner.
It’s A Dundeel took the attention of racegoers during last year’s Sydney Autumn Carnival with three Group 1 wins including a six lengths win in the Group 1 $1.5m David Jones Australian Derby (2400m) at Randwick.
Waterhouse is confident that Order Of The Sun will improve as she steps the Encosta De Lago colt up in distance and has her sights set on this year’s Australian Derby.
“Gosh, I really like Order Of The Sun,’’ Waterhouse told The Daily Telegraph
“He is going ahead in leaps and bounds. He is a Derby horse.’’
“You won’t see the best of him until he gets over a longer trip but I give him a good each-way chance.’’
Order Of The Sun is well and truly out of his class today stepping up from a win in a 1600m BenchMark 74 at Randwick on February 8 but the ever confident Waterhouse and jockey Tommy Berry aren’t completely dismissing his chances on the rain affected track.
“He is a beautiful Encosta De Lago colt and he is a strapping looking fellow,” Berry told Sky Racing HQ.
“He has worked very well on wet tracks at home and I think that he will get through it quite well.
“He has a beautiful clean action and he is only very lightly raced; he has only had six starts and he has filled the winners’ circle three times.”
“He is a horse that has always shown above average ability and obviously this is a step-up, running into It’s A Dundeel and Boban on Saturday, but I think that the wet track will suit him quiet well and there doesn’t look like being a heap on pace in the race either.”
Order Of The Sun is unwanted in the betting at $26 in the Ladbrokes.com.au Chipping Norton Stakes market order which has It’s A Dundeel the $1.85 favourite ahead of the Chris Waller pair of Boban at $4.40 and Moriarty at $9.
