Bull Point Joins Waller Stable

Promising colt Bull Point is now under the care of leading Sydney trainer Chris Waller after being transferred from the Gai Waterhouse stable.

Bull Point was unable to replicate his first-up win in the Manfred Stakes for the remainder of his 2014 Spring Racing Carnival campaign.

Sir Owen Glenn, the owner of 2014 Australian Derby winner Criterion, sold his share in Bull Point to Coolmore Stud at the end of the 2014 Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival and the rising four-year-old will debut for the Waller stable wearing the famous Coolmore silks during the 2014 Spring Racing Carnival.

Bull Point made his racing debut win a win in the Tab.Com.Au Handicap (1000m) at Royal Randwick on June 10 last year and he was beaten as a short-priced favourite by the recently retired Eurozone in the Australian Turf Club Handicap (1200m) at Rosehill Gardens on July 7.

The Fastnet Rock colt made his black type debut with a fair fourth behind Eurozone in the Listed The Rosebud (1200m) at Royal Randwick on August 10 and was beaten by a narrow margin in the Rosehill Gardens Handicap (1400m) on August 31.

Bull Point made his Group 1 debut in the Golden Rose (1400m) at Rosehill Gardens on September 14 and he looked as though he was going to finish at the tail of the field after he lost contact with his rivals in the early stages of the race, but he stormed down the outside late to finish an amazing third behind Zoustar and Dissident.

The three-year-old was sent to the spelling paddock following his impressive Golden Rose Stakes performance and looked as though he was in for a big autumn campaign when he returned to the races with a win in the Group 3 Manfred Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield on February 1.

Bull Point was well-backed in the lead-up to his weight-for-age debut in the Group 1 Futurity Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield on February 22, but finished fourth behind Moment Of Change and he was unable to beat home a single runner when stepped up to a mile in the Group 1 Royal Randwick Guineas (1600m) on March 15 before finishing his campaign with a seventh place finish in the Group 3 Sebring Stakes (1200m) at Rosehill Gardens on April 5.

Waller is yet to decide on what races he will target with Bull Point during the 2014 Spring Racing Carnival, but the stallion prospect is currently available at a quote of $61 in the 2014 Cox Plate betting market with Ladbrokes Australia.
