Talented three-year-old Brazen Beau has been purchased by Darley and will join their roster of leading stallions at the conclusion of the 2014/2015 racing season.

Brazen Beau made his racing debut at Canterbury in February of this year with an impressive four and a half lengths victory, but plans to ride the juvenile in the Group 1 Golden Slipper (1200m) were put on hold after he finished a disappointing fifth in the Listed Lonhro Plate (1100m) at Warwick Farm on March 8.
The I Am Invincible colt returned to racing with a win in the Group 2 Champagne Classic (1200m) at Doomben on May 10 before he finished close seconds in the Group 2 Sires Produce Stakes (1350m) at Doomben on May 24 and the Group 1 J.J. Atkins (1600m) at Eagle Farm on June 7.
Brazen Beau started his 2014 Spring Racing Carnival campaign with a unlucky fifth in the Group 2 Danehill Stakes (1200m) at Flemington on September 13 before he stamped himself as one of the leading stallion prospects in Australia by scoring back-to-back wins in the Group 2 Roman Consul Stakes (1200m) at Royal Randwick on October 4 and the Group 1 Coolmore Stud Stakes (1200m) at Flemington on November 1.
After his Coolmore Stud Stakes victory there were plenty of offers from studs right around Australia for Brazen Beau, but Darley revealed today that they had acquired the three-year-old, who will race on in the colours of original owners Ontrack Thoroughbreds.
Darley confirmed in a statement that the Group 1 Black Caviar Lightning Stakes (1000m) at Flemington on February 21, the Group 1 Newmarket Handicap (1200m) at the same venue on March 14 and the Group 1 Diamond Jubilee Stakes (1207m) during the 2015 Royal Ascot meeting would all be on the agenda for the Chris Waller-trained galloper.
Darley Managing Director Henry Plumptre confirmed that Brazen Beau would stand at Darley’s Northwood Park Stud at the end of his racing career and he said the entire Darley operation were thrilled to acquire the exciting stallion prospect.
“We are delighted to have secured Brazen Beau for stud duties next year,” Plumptre said in a statement.
“We identified him as a top class colt after his win in the Roman Consul Stakes in Sydney and it was no surprise to us when he won the Coolmore as impressively as he did.
“It is hoped that he will be able to underline his ability with an autumn campaign taking in two of this country’s best sprints before running at Royal Ascot.
“He is a powerful type and as a G1 winner already he’ll be a popular addition to our roster when he retires to take up stud duties at Northwood Park for the 2015 season.”
Brazen Beau was purchased for $70,000 at the 2013 Inglis Classic Yearling Summer Book Sale and he multiplied that amount ten times in prizemoney alone in his seven race starts.
