Co-trainer Paul Snowden has revealed that talented mare Bounding is set to return to the races in the 2015 Cockram Stakes at Caulfield on August 29 after she performed well in a barrier trial yesterday morning.

Bounding contested the opening barrier trial of the morning over 1030 metres at Rosehill Gardens and she was settled just behind the speed in the early stages of the barrier trial by jockey Hugh Bowman before she finished over the top of her rivals under a heavy hold to record an impressive win from Happy Galaxy and Boban.
Snowden told RSN this morning that Bounding has made more progress than the stable expected since she arrived from New Zealand at the end of May and he is keen to see how she performs in the Group 3 Cockram Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield on August 29.
“That is her second trial now and we have had her for about two and a half months,” Snowden said.
“She has only been out of the money once and that was in a blanket finish in a Manikato.
“Every other start she has finished in the first three and it has been in Listed or black-type company.
“She is a very well credentialed filly.
“She has been working very well and she is probably coming up a little bit quicker than we imagined.
“We are keen to get her to the races and learn a lot more about her.
“We are probably going to run down in Melbourne in a couple of weeks on Memsie Day.”
Bounding made her racing debut in October of 2012 with a win over Vilanova at Ellerslie on October 27 and she was narrowly denied as a two-year-old in both the Group 2 Matamata Breeders’ Stakes (1200m) and the Group 1 Diamond Stakes (1200m).
The Lonhro mare claimed her maiden win at Group level in the Breeders Stakes (1200m) at Hastings in September of 2013 and she was beaten as a short-priced favourite in the Group 1 1000 Guineas (1600m), but she returned to winning to take out the Group 1 Railway Stakes (1200m) at Ellerslie on January 1.
Bounding made her Australian racing debut with a close second behind Sidestep in the Group 2 Royal Sovereign Stakes (1200m) at Royal Randwick on April 19 last and she finished second behind Chautauqua in the Group 2 Gilgai Stakes (1200m) at Flemington on October 4 before she finished at the tail of the field in the Group 1 Manikato Stakes (1200m) at Moonee Valley on October 24.
She has not been seen at the races since she finished second behind Vain Queen in the Group 3 Mumm Stakes (1100m) at Flemington on Crown Oaks Day, but her two trials this preparation suggest that she is in for a big 2015 Spring Racing Carnival campaign.
