A win by Boom Chicka Boom in Saturday’s 3yo BenchMark 70 Handicap (1000m) at Racing.com Park at Pakenham will see the All Too Hard colt head to the Gold Coast for the $2m Magic Millions 3yo Guineas (1400m) on January 13.

Caulfield trainer Mick Price has a high opinion of Boom Chicka Boom following his five and a half lengths win at his second race start in a 1000m Maiden at Cranbourne on November 18.

“He’s a lovely colt,” Price told racing.com.

“I really like him. I could nearly make a case for him being unbeaten and he won his last start by five (lengths).

“I’ve got a lot of time for him. We’ve kept him fresh and I am trying to get him to take a little bit of a sit.

“He’s a real horse of the future.”

Boom Chicka Boom only has $16,350 in the bank and Price is hoping that Saturday’s winning cheque of $44,000 will be enough to get the colt into the Magic Millions 3yo Guineas field.

“He’s owned by Peter and Michelle Lang, who are Queenslanders with a big property up there and he’s a Magic Millions horse but he’s got no prizemoney,” Price said.

“At the moment, if he goes and wins and we think we can get him up there safe and sound, he may be able to get into one of those races.

“I’m not sure what the minimum prizemoney is but I think it’s a fair bit in those races so he needs to win on Saturday.

“I think I’ve got enough horse to do it with him. So, if we got him up there safe and sound and guaranteed getting a run, he can probably race there and spell at Michelle’s place.”

Boom Chicka Boom is one of twenty-one three year olds nominated for the 3yo BenchMark 70 Handicap which also includes last start winners Camila Lucinda, The Launcher, Magnorum, Miss Leonidas and Super Hussey.
