The Darren Beadman trained Federal and Handfast have both drawn wide barriers in the Listed $175,000 City Of Ipswich Eye Liner Stakes (1350m) at Ipswich on Saturday.

The Stradbroke Handicap winning trainer – jockey combination of Beadman and Corey Brown will team up again with Federal who drew barrier thirteen in the original Eye Liner Stakes draw of sixteen plus three emergencies and will move in two spots if all the reserves fail to gain a start.
Brown replaces Tommy Berry who rode Federal into seventh place behind Deploy in the Group 2 $175,000 Ascot Green Moreton Cup (1200m) at Doomben on June 3.
Handfast is also coming off a last start ninth in the Moreton Cup with Robbie Fradd retaining the ride on the Street Cry four year old who drew barrier sixteen in the original draw but could jump from gate thirteen.
“They are like peas in a pod lately. They’ve gone around in the same races at their last two runs and haven’t been too far from each other,” Beadman told Sky Sports Radio.
“Unfortunately they haven’t drawn too well so it’ll be a case of hoping they get cover and good rides.”
Peter and Paul Snowden will also saddle up two runners in the Eye Liner Stakes, Snippets Land and Acatour, and they weren’t given any favours at the barrier draw either.
Brisbane’s leading jockey Jeff Lloyd rides Acatour who drew the best of the two Snowden runners at barrier eleven while Damian Browne has plenty of work to do on Snippets Land who will jump from the outside of the capacity field.
Snippets Land is coming off a last start fifth in the Moreton Cup while Acatour will be having his first start since running eighth to Mongolian Wolf in the Group 3 $150,000 Mostyn Copper Group Frank Packer Plate (2000m) at Randwick on April 15.
In-form jockey Jim Byrne takes the ride on the Matthew Dunn trained Perfect Dare who drew perfectly at barrier four but could have trouble with the rain affected track that was rated a heavy 9 on Wednesday.
All of Perfect Dare’s four wins have been on top of the ground as was his last start third to Deploy in the Moreton Cup.
On the other hand the Toby Edmonds promising sprinter The Virginian has won his only run on a heavy track two starts back when he stormed to the line to win the Listed $100,000 IPG Marketing Solutions Chief De Beers (1050m) at Doomben on May 20 with Byrne in the saddle.
The Virginian has drawn in close at barrier two but was still without a rider early Wednesday afternoon.
The Ben Currie trained Cantbuybetter drew nicely at barrier seven and will be ridden by Josh Oliver replacing Jeff Lloyd who was aboard the gelding last start when he won the Listed $100,000 Members’ Handicap (1600m) at Doomben on May 13.
