The 2025 Golden Slipper final field has been declared, featuring 16 two-year-olds and two emergency runners. Wodeton, trained by Chris Waller, is the favourite, drawing well in gate 2.

The Golden Slipper Day card at Rosehill Gardens will feature five Group 1 races, with the $5 million Golden Slipper Stakes (1200m) as the main event.

Wodeton ($4.60), to be ridden by the brilliant James McDonald, is the current top-elect at $4.60 in Golden Slipper betting at Ladbrokes despite two recent losses.

He won his debut in January before placing third and second respectively in the Silver Slipper Stakes and Todman Stakes.

Tempted ($5.50), a filly trained by the powerhouse Royal Blue brigade at Godolphin, is the second elect, drawing ideally with barrier one for jockey Blake Shinn.

The inside alley has produced two of the past three Golden Slipper winners, making it a desirable position.

Tempted won the Group 2 Reisling Stakes last time out after finishing seventh in the Melbourne’s Blue Diamond Stakes.

Fillies have won five of the past seven Golden Slipper races, including Lady Of Camelot last year.

Tempted is the leading filly contender and is looking to complete the Reisling Stakes/Golden Slipper Stakes double.

“Tempted is out to be the first filly to do the Reisling/Golden Slipper double since Estijaab in 2018!” an analyst from Races.com.au reported.

Within The Law ($11), trained by Bjorn Baker, is another notable filly in this year’s capacity Golden Slipper Stakes field, drawing wide in gate 13.

Skyhook ($7.50), trained by the in-form duo of Gerald Ryan & Sterling Alexiou, is the last of the single-figure contenders under $10 to win the Slipper in 2025.

Kerrin McEvoy will ride Skyhook looking for his second Golden Slipper success after victory aboard the great Sepoy back in 2010.

Skyhook won last weekend’s Group 3 Pago Pago Stakes at the Slipper track and trip by over three lengths and is looking to replicate Shinzo’s 2023 double.

Other contenders include the unbeaten Kris Lees trained Rivellino, the Blue Diamond Stakes champion Devil Night trained by Team Hawkes, and Marhoona trained by Michael Freedman.

Rivellino will be ridden by Hugh Bowman from barrier three looking for his fourth win from as many starts.
