In-form filly Multaja has earned at shot at a Group 1 start with a come from behind win in the Listed $125,000 Mittys Helen Coughlan Stakes (1200m) at Doomben today.

Blake Shinn, above, claimed his fourth winner on Queensland Oaks Day with Multaja winning the Helen Coughlan Stakes at Doomben.

Multaja was Blake’s Shinn’s fourth win for the day and the second carrying the Godolphin royal blue colours and the James Cummings trained filly will now be set for the Group 1 $500,000 Sky Racing Tattersall’s Tiara (1400m) at Eagle Farm in three weeks.

Godolphin representative Nacim Dilmi said that Multaja has continued to work well and race well and has earned a chance at Group 1 company.

“It is on her agenda,” Dilmi said.

“It depends what the team wants to do with her next. She has had a big prep but I can’r see why not, she has done everything right so far.”

Multaja was coming off a last start second in the Listed $125,000 Queensland Day Stakes (1350m) at Doomben on May 11 and was sent out as one of the favourites at $4.20 for the Helen Coughlan Stakes.

Shinn settled Multaja a in the second half of the field and sliced through the pack in the straight to score a comfortable win over the $4 favourite Madam Rough who was trying hard down the middle of the track.

One of the roughie’s in the field, the Chris Munce trained Smartypy ($101), also ran on from the back to claim third spot.

Multaja is now a $9 chance for the Tattersall’s Tiara at Ladbrokes.com.au.
