The 2017 Australian Cup odds of some of the country’s best weight-for-age horses have continued to drift as punters rally around talented import Humidor, only hours prior to jump at Flemington Racecourse this afternoon.

Humidor opened at 2017 Australian Cup odds of $4.40 at Ladbrokes, but has firmed into sole favouritism for the premier weight-for-age race at a current quote of $3.80; leapfrogging Caulfield Cup champion Jameka in the process.

Posting four wins and a further six minors through only thirteen career starts so far, Humidor ran second in the Group 1 Livamol Ormand Memorial WFA (2040m) in New Zealand on October 1^st, before making his Australian debut for ninth in the Group 1 Cantala Stakes (1600m).

Resuming for fourth in the Listed John Dillon Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield on Australia Day, the Teofilo gelding has since finished second in each of the Group 3 Carlyon Cup (1600m) and Group 2 Peter Young Stakes (1800m).

Damian Lane retains the ride on Humidor this afternoon, who should receive a good run in transit from barrier 7.

Jameka has remained firm at 2017 Australian Cup odds of $4, but is now the sole occupant of the second line of betting.

Jameka broke through for a maiden win at the highest level in the 2015 edition of the Group 1 Crown Oaks (2500m), but the talented filly was unable to return to winning form through a strong autumn campaign in 2016, despite posting a number of outstanding results.

Running well in her first two starts in spring, the Myboycharlie mare returned to winning form in the Group 3 Naturalism Stakes (2000m) on September 17^th before producing two outstanding efforts to finish second behind Hartnell in the Group 1 Turnbull takes (2000m) and win the Group 1 Caulfield Cup (2400m) on October 15^th.

Jameka has so-far finished fourth in each of the Group 1 Ladbrokes CF Orr Stakes (1400m) and Peter Young Stakes this time, and will relish a step-up to 2000m this afternoon.

Stratum Star is seeking a fourth-consecutive win in the Australian Cup, but has interestingly drifted in betting markets, to a quote of $7.

Returning to winning with an impressive start-to-finish performance in the Group 1 Kingston Town Classic (1800m) in Perth in December, Stratum Star repeated the dose in the Magic Millions Trophy (1800m) on January 14^th before again winning the Peter Young Stakes last time out.
