Sir Moments has been scratched from the 2016 Hollindale Stakes at the Gold Coast this afternoon due to a foot injury.

Sir Moments was well supported in early Hollindale Stakes betting markets on the back of his tough third behind Bewhatyouwannabe and Allknight Saint in the Listed Tails Stakes (1600m), but trainer Steve O’Dea reported this morning that the Choisir gelding had a sore heel and would not run in the Hollindale Stakes.
The injury has ruined O’Dea’s plans to run Sir Moments in the Hollindale Stakes and he indicated that the five-year-old could be set for a fresh tilt at the Group 1 Stradbroke Handicap (1400m) at Eagle Farm on June 11.
Sir Moments’ scratching has led to some minor changes to the Hollindale Stakes betting market with Ladbrokes, but Hauraki remains a clear favourite at a quote of $2.70.
Hauraki has not recorded a race win since he took out the Group 2 Tulloch Stakes (2000m) at Rosehill Gardens last year, but he finished in the placings in the Group 1 Chipping Norton Stakes (1600m) at Royal Randwick on February 27 and the Group 1 Ranvet Stakes (2000m) at Rosehill Gardens on March 19 before he was not suited by the track in the Group 1 Queen Elizabeth Stakes (2000m) at Royal Randwick on April 9.
Godolphin dominate the Hollindale Stakes betting market and promising three-year-old Old North is on the second line of betting at Hollindale Stakes odds of $6.
Old North stamped himself as a horse to follow with his victory in the Tulloch Stakes, but he was beaten as a short-priced favourite by He’s Our Rokkii in the Frank Packer Plate (2000m) at Royal Randwick on April 16.
Excess Knowledge has not been seen at the races since he finished second behind It’s Somewhat in the Group 2 Ajax Stakes (1500m) and he has remained steady around the $9 market, while Godolphin’s third runner It’s Somewhat is the only other horse that is available at single figure Hollindale Stakes odds.
There has been a sprinkling of support in Hollindale Stakes betting for New Zealand Stakes winner Volkstok’n’barrell ($17 into $11), veteran gelding Strawberry Boy ($26 into $19) and Darren Weir-trained Puccini ($34 into $26), while Murray Baker-trained Sakhee’s Solider ($10 out to $11) and expensive import Spiritjim have both been on the drift ($9 out to $11).
