Co-trainer Paul Snowden has confirmed that talented colt Paceman will start his 2015 Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival campaign in the Group 2 Silver Slipper Stakes (1100m) at Rosehill Gardens on February 21.
Paceman garnered the attention of the Australian racing public when he recorded a dominant seven lengths victory in a barrier trial over 740 metres at Royal Randwick on October 31 and he made his racing debut with an effortless victory over Right Of Way in the Cellarbrations Appin Plate (1100m) at Rosehill Gardens on November 15.
The Duporth colt was sent straight to the spelling paddock and set for the Group 1 Golden Slipper (1200m) following his debut win, but he has now been back in work for several weeks.
Snowden told Sky Racing HQ that Paceman is building nicely towards his return to racing and he revealed that the two-year-old was on track to start his campaign in the Silver Slipper Stakes.
“He is super,” Snowden said.
“He did his main work this time in on Thursday and Hughie Bowman rode him and he gave him a fantastic feel.
“He really likes him and what he did was effortless.
“He has still got to improve, he has only won one race at the moment, and he needs to build on that and hopefully we can see that when he steps out.”
Another Team Snowden-trained galloper that is building towards a return to racing is Caulfield Guineas winner Shooting To Win.
Shooting To Win finished at the tail of the field in a barrier trial at Royal Randwick on January 15 and he is set to have an exhibition gallop at Royal Randwick tomorrow before he return to racings in the Group 2 Hobartville Stakes (1400m) at Rosehill Gardens on February 21.
“He will go around hopefully and it is just another part of his training to get him to the races again,” Snowden said.
“He is a big gross colt and he does very well at home.
“It will do him good to go down there and have a shake and a sweat and get all that nervous energy out of him.”
Paceman is currently available at 2015 Golden Slipper odds of $13 with Ladbrokes Australia, while Shooting To Win is available at a quote of $9 to take out the 2015 Doncaster Mile.
