Smart mare Risk Aversion will have to overcome a tricky barrier draw but trainer Michael Lakey is confident she is at the top of her game for a first-up assignment in Saturday’s Group 3 Glenlogan Park Stakes (1350m) at Doomben.

The Queenslander had a brief freshen-up after a two-start Sydney autumn campaign and is now raring to go on home soil.

“She’s really forward. She had a half-mile jump-out at Doomben a couple of weeks ago which went well,” Lakey told horseracing.com.au.

“She’s not a brilliant worker at home but she’s probably going as well as she goes.”

The Doomben hit-out is the first of a likely three-start campaign that will continue with the Group 2 Dane Ripper Stakes (1400m) on June 8 and the Group 1 Tattersall’s Tiara (1400m) on June 22.

The winner of five of 14 starts is nominated for the $1.36 million Stradbroke Handicap but Lakey said it is unlikely she will contest the winter carnival’s most lucrative race.

“She’s more likely to stick to the mares’ races, going to the Dane Ripper and then on to the Tatt’s Tiara,” he said.

“She’d have to do something pretty special to go to the Stradbroke. At this stage I don’t think we’ll be heading that way.”

An $11 chance in Saturday’s fillies and mares’ sprint, Risk Aversion has drawn barrier 17 and will be ridden by top local jockey Chris Munce.

Lakey admits his charge is a horse who needs things to go her way but is confident she will be hitting the line.

“She’s a horse who gets back and needs little bit of luck. Hopefully she can get that and she’ll be running on,” Lakey said.

It is Risk Aversion’s second crack at the Glenlogan, running fifth last year on a day where leaders dominated.

Favourite for Saturday is Sydney mare Arinosa ($2.20) who is chasing her third straight win at Group level.
