Anthony Cummings has all but conceded The Run To The Rose will be won by either Pierro or All Too Hard at Rosehill Gardens this weekend.
The trainer will line up two of his stable young guns in the Group 3 event, however, is afraid they might be racing for third place.
Both Ninth Legion and Your Song have accepted for a spot in The Run To The Rose field.
Cummings feels the duo will make a mark on the race, but is not shy in expressing his admiration for the star three-year-olds in the field.
“They’re both nice horses, you’ve got to give due respect to both of them,” Cummings said of Pierro and All Too Hard.
“I’d love to have a horse with Pierro’s record.
“There’s been lots of conjecture about his work and all the rest of it – he’s never impressed people in trackwork but he just keeps winning.
“It’s very hard to judge him on what people are saying right now because that’s proven to be a bad guide.
“You’ve got to give respect to his record.”
Ninth Legion was only one position off All Too Hard in their most recent start at Rosehill in the San Domenico Stakes.
The Fastnet Rock colt placed a respectable fourth, while All Too Hard passed the post in third position.
Ninth Legion has won two of his four starts to date and has won more than $75,000 in prize money to date.
“He’s taken a nice step off that,” said Cummings in regards to Ninth Legion’s San Domenico run.
“He was still there right beside All Too Hard.
“I think the form’s pretty good and he’s another nice horse going places.”
Another Fastnet Rock colt, Your Song will be facing Group competition for the first time in The Run To The Rose this Saturday.
Your Song has won two of his three race starts and has accumulated more than $90,000 in prize earnings.
