Gai Waterhouse joined in the Caulfield Cup day celebrations when More Joyous won the Group 2 Tristarc Stakes(1400m) at Caulfield
Overcoming an interrupted campaign, the classy mare maintain her unbeaten record at Caulfield with a hard fought effort over Sister Madly.
More Joyous is having a light spring but it is certainly on track.
She settled sixth and moved into the race at the home turn.
One obstacle, Sister Madly stood in her way particularly when she found a length over More Joyous at the 300m after leading into the straight.
More Joyous, $1.85 favourite, packed too many guns in the final 100m to beat Sister Madly by a head with Response running on strongly a length away third.
Dysphonia, Screen and Goon Serpent all ran on well behind the placegetter though never looking like winners.
More Joyous, who has won all three starts at Caulfield, will now be set for the Group 1 Myer Classic (1600m) at Flemington on October 29.
Jockey Nash Rawiller though happy with the win says More Joyous hasn’t quite reached the heights that made her a leading chance in the 2010 Cox Plate.
