Three Japanese trained stayers are among the 209 nominations for the 2015 Group 1 $3m BMW Caulfield Cup (2400m) to be run at Caulfield on October 17.

The Japanese trained Admire Rakti came from last on the turn to claim the 2014 Caulfield Cup with Hong Kong based jockey Zac Purton and Japan looks set to try to retain the winning trophy again this year.
The Japanese entries of Fame Game, Hokko Brave and Hana’s Revenge are three of the twenty-five international horses that have been entered for the tough Melbourne Spring Carnival 2400m Handicap.
“We are particularly pleased to see three Japanese horses, including the highly rated pair Fame Game and Hokko Brave, entered to defend Japan’s crown in the Caulfield Cup,” Racing Victoria’s Executive General Manager Mr Carpenter said.
“We are delighted to receive entries across the Caulfield Cup and Cox Plate from 22 international trainers representing the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Japan, Ireland and for the first time Qatar.”
“We have labelled this a year of transition when it comes to international participation in the Spring Racing Carnival and we have seen that reflected with entries from 12 international trainers who have yet to bring a runner to Melbourne.
“To complement this with entries from world class trainers like Aidan O’Brien, Andre Fabre, Mikel Delzangles, Ed Dunlop, Saeed bin Suroor and Sir Michael Stoute, who have all campaigned runners in the Spring Racing Carnival previously, is most pleasing.
“Hardwicke Stakes winner Snow Sky, Ascot Gold Cup winner Trip To Paris and his evergreen stablemate Red Cadeaux are among the high profile international entries for the Caulfield Cup,”
Five times Australian visitor and three times Melbourne Cup runner up Red Cadeaux looks likely to make the trip to Melbourne again and Newmarket trainer Ed Dunlop has entered the ten year for this year’s Caulfield Cup.
Last year’s Caulfield Cup runner up Rising Romance will get another chance to claim the winning trophy under the new Lindsay Park banner.
Rising Romance was prepared by New Zealand trainer Donna Logan when she won the 2014 Group 1 $1m Seven News Australian Oaks (2400m) at Randwick and was under her care right up to her last start second to Scratchy Bottom in the Group 3 $150,000 Hertz Epona Stakes (1900m) at Rosehill on March 21 before being transferred to the training partnership of David Hayes and Tom Dabernig.
“She’s a lovely pick-up for the stable and I think she’s a very exciting horse to have in the yard,” Dabernig told Racing.com’s Racing Ahead on RSN.
Rising Romance is one thirteen horses nominations from the Lindsay Park Team while Sydney’s premier trainer Chris Waller has entered eighteen from his massive pool of horses.
2014 Doncaster Mile winner Kermadec, Queensland Oaks winner Winx and proliific Group 1 performer Royal Descent are three of the high profile Waller entrants.
Gai Waterhouse will be looking for her another Caulfield Cup after winning the trophy in 2010 with Descarado and has several imported stayers among her entries including Excess Knowledge, Bonfire, King Kinshasa and Doomben Cup winner Poenichet.
Other prominent Waterhouse entries are the mares Adrift, Amanpour and Bohemian Lily.
First acceptances for the Caulfield Cup will be taken at 12 noon on Tuesday, 8 September, 2015.
