Head of Marketing, Chris Bevan, said that the ATC has taken on board the success of the innovative The Everest which was run and won for the first time in 2017 with the Team Snowden trained Redzel fuelling plenty of excitement with his three quarters of length win over Vega Magic.

Redzel and the Lindsay Park trained Vega Magic have already secured two of the twelve slots for the 2018 The Everest.

“The impact of The Everest in its first year across Sydney and the global racing community was astonishing and this rebrand of our Spring racing calendar to ‘‘Everest Carnival’’ will only further highlight the world-class racing and fantastic on-course experiences available at Rosehill Gardens and Royal Randwick over Spring,” Chris Bevan said.

“Everest Carnival” will run from Saturday 8 September and conclude on Saturday 13 October with the second running of the $13 million The Everest.”

The ATC has also introduced a new race to complement The Everest, the $1.3m The Kosciouszko (1200m) for country trained horses while the Group 3 $500,000 Sydney Stakes (1200m) will be run as a backup for The Everest.

The Everest Carnival opens with the Group 2 $200,000 The Run To The Rose (1200m) on Saturday 8 September which along with Group 1 $1m De Bortoli Wines Golden Rose Stakes (1400m) on September 22 are the two features days at Rosehill Gardens.

Royal Randwick will host four Carnival days; Colgate Optic White Stakes Day (15 September), TAB Epsom Day on the October Long Weekend (29 September), Moët & Chandon Spring Champion Stakes Day (6 October) and concludes with The Everest on 13 October.
