The nominations for 2017 Group 2 $200,000 P.B. Lawrence Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield on Saturday are loaded with Group 1 winners which include Hartnell, Black Heart Bart, Humidor, Lankan Rupee and Inference.

Black Heart Bart is one of six horses from the powerful Darren Weir stable among the eighteen nominations for the P.B. Lawrence Stakes along with stablemates Amelie’s Star, Gailo Chop, Humidor, Star Exhibit and Tosen Stardom.

Black Heart Bart is clearly the leader of the Weir’s team with five Group 1 wins on his record and will be having his first run back since finishing fifth to Clearly Innocent in the Group 1 $700,000 Darley Kingsford-Smith Cup (1300m) at Eagle Farm on May 27.

Black Heart Bart is a Caulfield 1400m specialist and is undefeated from four starts over the P.B. Lawrence course and distance.

Humidor is another Group 1 winner out of the Weir stable and gained entry into the Group 1 winner’s club with his win in the $1.5m Australian Cup (2000m) at Flemington during the 2017 Melbourne Autumn Carnival.

The Teofilo five year old will be having his first start back since running second to Jameka in the Group 1 $1.5m The BMW (2400m) at Rosehill during the 2017 Sydney Autumn Carnival.

French import Gailo Chop will be having his first run for the Weir stable but has won a Group 1 on Australian soil under French trainer Antoine de Watrigant when he lead all of the way to win the 2015 $1m Longines Mackinnon Stakes (2000m) at Flemington.

Caulfield trainer Mick Price has nominated two for the P.B. Lawrence Stakes, Duke Of Brunswick and Lankan Rupee who is also entered for the Group 3 $120,000 David R Coles AM Spring Stakes (1200m) at Morphettville on Saturday.

Multiple Group 1 winner Hartnell is the only horse from the Goldolphin stable entered for the P.B. Lawrence Stakes and will be having his first run back after finishing second to Winx in the Group 1 $4m Longines Queen Elizabeth Stakes (2000m) at Randwick on April 8.

Other notable nominations for the P.B. Lawrence Stakes are the Team Hawkes trained Randwick Guineas winner Inference, who is also entered for the Group 2 $250,000 Warwick Stakes (1400m) at Randwick on Saturday, and the Lindsay Park trained Toorak Handicap winner He’s Our Rokkii.

The Lindsay Park Team of David and Ben Hayes and Tom Dabernig have also entered Seaburge and Tashbeeh for the P.B. Lawrence Stakes.
