There are two Listed races on the McKenzie Stakes Day card and both the McKenzie Stakes and Carlyon Stakes have drawn exciting fields of sprinters.

Godolphin colt Bandipur remains favourite in the McKenzie Stakes betting market at Ladbrokes.com.au, but a big move has been made for the well-bred Frankel My Dear, who has firmed into a current $8 quote after opening at $26.

Defending champion Heatherly is set to jump an odds-on favourite in the Carlyon Stakes, but faces a big task in overcoming the likes of Keen Array and Missrock.

2017 McKenzie Stakes Day Results

Race 1 (12:25pm) McMahon’s Dairy Handicap Results

Cismontane has led from start to finish to post an impressive win in Race 1 at The Valley this afternoon.

There was no obvious pace confirmed amongst the field of eight for the McMahon’s Dairy Handicap and that allowed jockey Stephen Baster to take up a soft lead after jumping well; setting an extremely slow pace for his rivals.

Settling into a good rhythm and experiencing an ideal run in transit, the High Chaparral gelding kicked clear upon arriving at the final straight; hitting the line well to beat Super Haze by a head.

Godolphin mare Fragonard has completed a perfectly-timed sprint to comfortable win Race 2 on McKenzie Stakes Day.

Jumping from the gates well, jockey Craig Williams allowed the four-year-old to stride forward and take an ideal position in transit on the heels of early leader Hear The Chant.

Holding her position on the rails leading onto the final straight, the daughter of New Approach locked in a fierce sprint battle with Hear The Chant, but easily pulled clear in the final 200m when asked for an extra effort.

Race 3 (1:35pm) Johnnie Walker Plate Results

Roomooz has held on to win the Johnnie Walker Plate (1200m) in a photo from a fast-finishing Tulip.

Roomooz jumped from the gates well this afternoon and was settled just behind the pace of True Excelsior and Cherief’s Choice.

Pulling several lengths clear upon arriving at the final straight, the Fastnet Rock filly tired in the late stages of the race, but held on to beat Tulip by a short nose on the line.

Spunlago has mustered an impressive turn of foot in the final straight at The Valley to beat race favourite Sin To Win by half a length in the Ranvet Handicap.

Jockey Jye McNeil settled Spunlago off the pace Rebellious Lord and Cosmic Lights, who flew the gates and injected plenty of early tempo into the race.

Taking a wide line upon arriving at the final straight, Spunlago flew home on the outside of the field to win the race by a half-length.

Race 5 (2:45pm) MSC Signs Handicap Results

Pacodali has beaten Melbourne Cup winner Almandin by a length in Race 5 at The Valley this afternoon.

Pacodali was seeking a third-consecutive race win in the MSC Signs Handicap this afternoon and was settled within the classy field of stayers by jockey Damien Lane.

Almandin found the lead upon arriving at the final straight and pulled a length clear of his rivals, but Pacodali’s fitness edge was clear when he mustered a smart turn of foot to comfortably find the lead and extend to the line.

Overshare has led from start to finish to comfortably win the Listed McKenzie Stakes this afternoon.

Jumping from the gates well, jockey Dwayne Dunn elected to take up the running in the McKenzie Stakes and enjoyed an easy run at the fore of the field.

Skipping clear of his rivals in the final straight, the I Am Invincible colt immediately responded when he was challenged by Bandipur; kicking clear to win the race by a length.

Race 7 (4:05pm) Listed Carlyon Stakes Results

Missrock has produced a dominant turn of foot to overcome Heatherly in the final straight and win the Listed Carlyon Stakes this afternoon.

The Fastnet Rock mare was settled in an ideal position on the rails by jockey Ben Melham and followed Heatherly through and towards the pace around the Valley turn.

Immediately responding when asked for an extra effort, Missrock easily overcame the resounding race favourite to record a comfortably half-length win and stamp herself as a leading contender for the Group 1 Moir Stakes over course and distance in September.

Race 8 (4:45pm) Ladbrokes Handicap Results

Here To There has completed a perfectly-timed sprint to beat Mihany on the line in the Ladbrokes Handicap.

Jockey Stephanie Thornton took advantage of an ideal draw this afternoon and steered Here To There to a good position on the heels of early leaders Mihany and Tried And Tired.

Allowing the horse to go through his gear around the bend, Thornton was greeted with a big turn of foot when she asked for an extra effort and closed out her first Melbourne metropolitan winner in style.

Race 9 (5:20pm) Art Series Hotel Group Handicap Results

Oak Door has flown home to win the final race on McKenzie Stakes Day at The Valley.

Jumping from the gates well, Oak Door took an ideal position in transit behind early leader Rocket Tommy; holding a position on the fence in transit.

Forced to bide his time as the field straightened, the Commands entire completely let down when he found clear running and found no issue overcoming the Art Series Hotel Group Handicap field.
