2016 Oakleigh Plate Tips: Fast ‘N’ Rocking The Value

Fast ‘N’ Rocking is on top of the 2016 Oakleigh Plate tips of form expert Nick Pinkerton and he believes that the consistent sprinter represents outstanding value at his current odds for the Group 1 event at Caulfield on Saturday.

Fast ‘N’ Rocking finished a close third behind Shamal Wind in the Group 1 Oakleigh Plate (1100m) last year and he produced a string of impressive performances during the 2015 Spring Racing Carnival, which included a fourth place finish in the Group 1 Manikato Stakes (1200m) and a third place finish in the Group 1 Winterbottom Stakes (1200m).

Pinkerton admits that Fast ‘N’ Rocking is not a regular winner, but he is confident that the son of Fastnet Rock will be right in the Oakleigh Plate and is the clear value in the race at his current quote of $15.

“A horse I am really keen on at odds here is Fast ‘N’ Rocking,” Pinkerton said.

“I have him priced as about a $9 chance and he is currently around that $15 to $17 range.

“His Group 1 record over 1100 is excellent – he ran third in this race last year behind Shamal Wind and his other Group 1 run over 1100 he finished fourth in The Galaxy at Rosehill.

“He has had five starts at the 1100 in total and he has never finished further back than fourth in all of them.

Dwayne Dunn obviously won this race last year on Shamal Wind and he has an excellent record on this day.

“I just think this horse really profiles well as an ideal 1100 metres horse.

“If I had one query it is that he has had just one win since November of 2014, but that is why you are getting $15.

“I think he is exceptional value and I would be very surprised if he doesn’t run a big race.”

Keen Array has been the best-backed runner in the Oakleigh Plate betting market with Ladbrokes and he is on the second line of betting behind Heatherly at a quote of $4.20.

Pinkerton said that he has a big opinion of Keen Array and he believes that he is the best of the leading chances ahead of the Oakleigh Plate tomorrow.

“Keen Array is a horse that I am very interested in,” Pinkerton said.

“He has a light weight and he is a horse that is very much on the up.

“He improved dramatically last preparation and he is the horse in the top three of betting with the most interest to me.”
