The year in Australian horseracing reaches its climax at Flemington Racecourse today for 2015 Melbourne Cup Day; undoubtedly highlighted by the featured Group 1 race over two miles, which has drawn a particularly classy and capacity field of local and international talent.
2015 Melbourne Cup Day results will get underway with the running of the Group 3 Emirates Airline Plate (1000m) at 10:40am local time; building towards the Group 1 Melbourne Cup at 3:00pm and concluding with the Group 3 Hong Kong Jockey Club Stakes (1400m) at 5:15pm.

Long odds chance Concealer has completed an ideal debut to racing on 2015 Melbourne Cup Day; mustering an impressive late turn of foot to take out the Group 3 Emirates Airline Plate (1000m).
Jumping from the gates well, jockey Zac Purton settled Concealer off the pace of early leaders Motown Lil, Prompt Response and Infra Dig who flew the barriers and injected plenty of tempo into the race from the outset.
Immediately responding when asked for an extra effort, the Nicconi filly charged forward and comfortably found the fore of the field before crossing the line a length in the clear.
Purton will partner clear race favourite Fame Game in the Melbourne Cup this afternoon.

Clear race favourite Zarzali has produced an impressive effort to take out the Race 2 on Melbourne Cup Day this morning.
Zarzali interestingly drifted in betting markets in the hours leading up to the TAB.com.au Stakes but did her chances of success no harm when jumping well and finding ideal running room on the heels of early leaders Clear Direction and So Feesable.
Receiving an ideal run in transit, Zarzali produced an impressive late kick to take the lead with 300m to run and maintained a strong enough sprint to the line to beat Precious Gem and Lilly Dazzler.

De Little Engine has completed a perfectly-timed run at Flemington this afternoon to beat a talented field of stayers to the line in the JB Cummings AM Tribute BM96 (2800m).
De Little Engine was charged with overcoming the wide and awkward barrier 19 this afternoon, but jumped well and immediately settled into a great rhythm past the post the first time and rounding onto the back straight.
Appearing hampered and blocked for a run upon arriving at the long Flemington straight, jockey Chad Schofield allowed the Encosta De Lago gelding to balance before asking for an extra effort; the five-year-old responding to overcome a spirited Jim’s Journey.

Malaguerra has led from start to finish to take out the Lavazza Short Black (1400m) at Flemington this afternoon.
Malaguerra’s chances of success this afternoon received a huge boost when allocated the ideal barrier 2 earlier this week, and the horse did his chances to harm which jumping well and taking up the early pace on the rail beside Shintaro.
Offered a clear racing line upon arriving at the final straight, the Magnus gelding producing an impressive sprint to pull clear of his rivals; hitting the line more than a length in the clear of Good Project.
Jockey Ben Melham will ride Our Ivanhowe in this afternoon’s Melbourne Cup.

Outsider Invincible Heart has produced an impressive late charge to beat Viceroy in the line in the Schweppes Flemington Fling this afternoon.
Invincible Heart was settled off the pace of Parcel, Miss Gidget and American Star in the early stages of the Flemington Fling, and received a great run in transit.
Immediately responding when asked for an extra effort, the I Am Invincible filly locked in a fierce sprint battle with Viceroy and bobbed her head at the right time for success.

Don’t Doubt Mamma has produced an impressive effort in the final straight at Flemington to deliver a talented field of three-year-old fillies defeat in the Listed Lexus Hybrid Plate (1400m).
Don’t Doubt Mamma was a leading fancy in the Lexus Hybrid Plate and jockey Dwayne Dunn elected to settle off the pace of early leaders Tiz My View and Raggle Varr; receiving an ideal run in transit.
Rounding onto the final straight wide and with plenty to do, the Not A Single Doubt filly shot forward and comfortably overcame the leading pack; extending to hit the line two length in the clear.

Prince Of Penzance has produced one of the great upsets in the history of the Melbourne Cup, producing an incredible staying effort to take out the Race That Stops a Nation from Max Dynamite and Criterion.
Prince Of Penzance was given no chance of success in the Melbourne Cup and started as a rank $101 outsider, but did his chances of success no harm when jumping well and taking an ideal position within the field as Quest For More, Big Orange and Trip To Paris set the pace past the post the first time.
Receiving an ideal run in transit and rounding onto the final straight in ideal racing position, jockey Michelle Payne allowed the Pentire gelding to balance before mounting their final straight assault; producing a monumental turn of foot to take out the country’s headline race.

Awesome Rock has completed a strong effort for success over a talented field in the Listed James Boag’s Symphony Stakes (1800m) at Flemington.
Awesome Rock was charged with overcoming the wide and awkward barrier 15 in the James Boag’s Symphony Stakes but did his chances of success no harm when jumping well and settling in prime position on the heels of early leader Jacquinot Bay.
Cutting the corner and reaching the front of the field at the final straight, Awesome Rock continued to find in the dying stages of the race to hold out a late charge from Malice and Garud.

Sea Lord has delivered a talented field of sprinters a comfortable defeat late on 2015 Melbourne Cup Day; mustering a strong late kick to take out the Listed MSS Security Sprint (1200m).
Sea Lord jumped well and was settled on the inside off the course, off the pace of early leaders Colours Of The Wind and Villopoto who flew the barriers and ensure plenty of pace was injected in the race early.
Pressing forward with 400m to run, jockey Dom Tourneur guided Sea Lord through the field; who kept finding right the way to the line to post a tenth career success and only second in 2015.

Race 10 Hong Kong Jockey Club Stakes Results
Scarlet Billows has capped an incredible 2015 Melbourne Cup Day for trainer Darren Weir in taking out the card-closing Group 3 Hong Honk Jockey Club Stakes (1400m).
Scarlet Billows interestingly drifted in betting markets for the Hong Kong Jockey Club Stakes leading up to jump, but did he chances of success absolutely no harm when jumping well and settling off the pace of Exclusive Lass, Traveston Girl and clear race favourite Wawail.
Rounding the bend with plenty to do, the Street Boss mare appeared to be just a little too far off race leader Wawail but continued to find to the line; ending 2015 Melbourne Cup Day in style.
