Streama is the 2014 Hollindale Stakes tip of Adam Blencowe and the Timeform expert believes that she represents good value at her current quote for the Group 2 event at the Gold Coast on Saturday.
Streama was unable to find her best form during the 2014 Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival, but trainer Guy Walter said this morning that he has been happy with the performances of the Stratum filly apart from her unlucky run in the Group 1 Doncaster Mile (1600m) at Royal Randwick on April 12.
Blencowe told RSN this morning that Streama would dominate this race if she is able to replicate the form that she showed during the 2013 Spring Racing Carnival, but is confident that she is still an excellent winning chance even if she does not produce her best.
“It is a race in one if Streama brings her best,” Blencowe said.
“She has been a little bit below that this prep, but I thought that her last start was fairly encouraging.
“If she comes anything like the George Main and Epsom form, she gave Boban weight and got beaten a pixel, she is going to hammer this lot, but she hasn’t been able to produce that.
“I think that she gets through wet ground but it is not ideal for her, she has been struggling to find that best form on wet tracks down in Sydney and the way the track comes up will have a little bit to do with that.
“She has a reasonable pace angel; she will go forward and I don’t think that there is a huge amount of speed in it.
“I think that Mr O’Ceirin will go forward from out wide and Fat Al might go forward, but I think that it might pan out fairly nicely for her.
“On her form this prep, which is a bit below her best, she is right on par with a Junoob and I think that she is the horse to be with at those sort of prices.”
Junoob has been a clear favourite in 2014 Hollindale Stakes betting markets since the final field is released and is taking winning form into the race after finishing his Sydney campaign with impressive wins in the Listed Randwick City Stakes (2000m) at Royal Randwick on March 15 and the Group 3 Neville Sellwood Stakes (2000m) at Rosehill Gardens on April 5.
Blencowe said that he has been impressed with the improvement that Junoob has shown this preparation and rates him quiet highly, but feels that the Haafhd gelding is slightly under the odds at his current quote.
“Junoob is heading in the right direction and has a pretty good profile for it, Lights Of Heaven won this race off the Neville Sellwood last year, and she was at least as good as her there,” Blencowe said.
“They are probably the two, but I lean the way of Streama at this stage.”
