2014 Flight Stakes Tips: First Seal And Winx Tough To Split

Leading form expert Adam Blencowe has First Seal and Winx on top of his 2014 Flight Stakes tips and he is confident that one of two fillies will win the Group 1 event at Royal Randwick tomorrow.

Winx went to the top of Flight Stakes betting markets after she recorded a three lengths victory from Alpha Miss and Earthquake in the Group 2 Furious Stakes (1200m) at Royal Randwick on September 6, but she was leapfrogged in betting when First Seal scored an upset win in the Group 2 Tea Rose Stakes (1400m) at the same venue on September 20.

Blencowe told RSN that Winx and First Seal deserve their place on top of the Flight Stakes betting market and he believes that the two classy fillies will fight out the finish this weekend.

“I think that the first two are up to standard Flight Stakes winners,” Blencowe said.

“I would be surprised if one of the top two didn’t win and I don’t think that there is much between them.

“First Seal beat Winx fair and square last time.

“I was in Winx’s camp last time and I think that she will have to improve up to a mile, but she will have to, to beat First Seal.

“I don’t think that there is much between the two and I think that the market reflects that.

“It is a good race in two.”

The only other runner in Flight Stakes betting that has received any support from punters is undefeated Melbourne filly Thinking Of You, who recorded a comfortable three lengths win at Wodonga on debut before taking out the TMB Printing Handicap (1400m) at Caulfield on September 20.

Blencowe believes that Thinking Of You, who was scratched from the Group 2 Edward Manifold Stakes by trainer Peter Moody earlier in the week, can be competitive in the Flight Stakes, but does not believe that she will be able to win the Group 1 event.

“Thinking Of You obviously hasn’t really been tested test,” Blencowe said.

“She blew that field away last start and I think that she will measure up ok, but I would be surprised if one of the first two didn’t win.”

First Seal is available at 2014 Flight Stakes odds of $2.35 and is a narrow favourite from Winx ($2.75) and Thinking Of You ($4.60).
