Speedy mare Invincible Star has been installed as the odds on favourite for the $100,000 Magic Millions Wyong 3yo & 4yo Stakes (1200m) at Wyong on Wednesday.
Invincible Star was back in the winner’s stall for co-trainers Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott with an all the way win in the Listed $140,000 Starlight Stakes (1100m) at Rosehill on December 1 and the stable is keen on her chances again.
Tulloch Lodge racing manager Emma Pearce was showing all the confidence that radiates from Waterhouse and said that Invincible Star looks unbeatable at Wyong.
“She is just going super at the moment and will definitely race at Wyong,” Emma Pearce told Racing New South Wales News Desk.
“She is going so well and I can’t see her getting beaten. The race is perfectly placed in her preparation with the Gold Coast in mind.
“We had considered trialling her then racing but she is going along so well that it was decided to go the other well. She will most probably have a trial after this run.”
Invincible Star is likely to line up in the $1m Magic Millions Snippets (1200m) at the Gold Coast on Magic Millions Day on January 12 and a win at Wyong will see her sent out as one of the favourites.
The I Am Invincible mare had mixed results during the Spring and was withdrawn from contention for the $13m The Everest (1200m) at Randwick on October 13 because of a lameness issue but then went to Melbourne for a fifth to Brave Smash in the Group 1 $1m Ladbrokes Manikato Stakes (1200m) at The Valley on October 26.
Invincible Star then finished down the track when twelfth to Santa Ana Lane in the Group 1 $1m VRC Sprint Classic (1200m) at Flemington on November 10 but then freshened up nicely for the easier Starlight Stakes.
Tim Clark was aboard Invincible Star for her win in the Starlight Stakes and gets the ride again at Wyong and the mare will have to use her good gate speed to find the front from barrier eight in the nine horse field for the Magic Millions Wyong 3yo & 4yo Stakes.
Early betting for the Magic Millions Wyong 3yo & 4yo Stakes at Ladbrokes.com.au has Invincible Star as the $1.60 favourite ahead of the Peter and Paul Snowden trained Bondi at $6.50 and Victorian four year old Bel Sonic at $7.50.
