The Chris Waller trained Accession will have to overcome a wide barrier if he is to keep his winning momentum going in the $2m 2019 Inglis Millennium (2yo) (1200m) at Warwick Farm on Saturday.

High profile jockey Hugh Bowman said that he would have rather preferred a mid-field draw but is giving Accession a great chance of taking home the major portion of the prizemoney even after drawing barrier fourteen in the fifteen horse field.

“I would have rather drawn midfield but the draw isn’t the end of the world,” Bowman said.

“He is a horse that tends to settle mid-field or maybe possibly a bit further back in his races.”

“I think whatever wins the race will need some luck in running at some stage.”

“I rode him this morning and I was very encouraged by the way he has progressed since that last gallop. He is a horse that is ticking over really well.”

“He is very fresh and happy within himself which is ideal going into a signature race like this and we are very excited about his prospects, not just this weekend but beyond.”

Accession is the winner of two of his three race starts and Bowman is expecting another strong performance this weekend to enhance his chances for the Group 1 $3.5m Longines Golden Slipper (1200m) at Rosehill on March 23.

“I would like to see him run very well this weekend with the Golden Slipper in mind and we expect a good performance, win, lose or draw and I am sure he will only continue to improve,” Bowman said.

“He is not a big colt but he is very athletic and I am sure this horse is going to keep progressing as he grows.”

Accession was a winner at his second race day appearance in the $500,000 Inglis Nursery (1000m) at Randwick on December 15 and then proved superior again with a four and a quarter lengths win in the $125,000 Countdown to Golden Slipper Sprint (1100m) at Rosehill on January 19.

Accession is sharing favouritism with the Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott trained Dawn Passage who has drawn midfield at barrier seven with Blake Shinn booked to ride.

Shinn was aboard Dawn Passage when he scored a three and a quarter lengths win on debut in the a 1000m two year old Handicap at Randwick on Australia Day.
